Using ser, estar and adjectives in the plural: they are forms

Once you're familiar with making sentences using somos and estamos to make sentences meaning we are ..., then making sentences that mean they are ... is fairly straightforward. You just need to change the form of ser or estar:

Verbthey formExample
sersonson ingleses
they're English (masc)
son inglesas
they're English (fem)
estarestánestán cansados
they're tired (masc)
están cansadas
they're tired (fem)

Notice that these verb forms both end in -n. In fact, the "they" form of every Spanish verb, in every tense, ends in -n.

Exercise: make sentences meaning they are ...

Now we'll add they are forms to the practice sentences. In this exercise, you'll be asked for a mixture of they are forms, plus the other forms you've been practising up to now. So it's worth spending a good few minutes on this exercise, to revise everything you've been learning in this tutorial.
