Exercise: practise continuous forms of -er and -ir verbs

On this page, you can practise the present continuous forms of -er and -ir verbs. One or two of the verbs used here aren't regular in all tense forms, but they are regular as far as the continuous form is concerned.

Recall that to make the continuous forms of these verbs, you need to:

  • choose the appropriate form of estar;
  • form the gerund (the "-ing form") by replacing -er/-ir with -iendo.

For example: I am eating, using the verb comer (to eat), would be estoy comiendo.

Next: gerunds with a vowel change

On the next page, you can learn about and practise the continuous forms of verbs with a vowel change in the gerund.
